About KaOM

KaOM was established in 2011 with the aim of business and healthcare consultancy. This expanded to extend caring principles through Prevention and Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA) training. The lead trainer Reuben is a well experienced mental health nurse with over 18 years experience ranging from Medium Secure Units to Care homes as well as community settings. KaOM was founded on the values of reflective practice where “Keeping an Open Mind” results in better outcomes for patients, workers and organizations.

Our PMVA training focuses mainly on upholding human rights, preventative strategies and avoidance of physical interventions whenever possible. This is recommended by Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) training standards 2020 https://restraintreductionnetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/RRN_Standards_1.2_Jan_2020.pdf. We have subscribed to BILD ACT in line with NHS and CQC expectations. Training is GSA aligned and acceptable in NHS as well as leading independent providers from acute settings to MSU. KaOM has trained for a number of agency businesses and individual workers. We understand that people we care for remain vulnerable even when challenging behaviours are manifested. The vision for the near future is for training to expand in the direction of challenging behaviour in care homes, as well as consultation on dealing with aggression.

Learn to protect yourself and others around you. Keep an Open Mind.
